11 27 14 - Canon Updates
gamemakers: (Default)
Do you want to update your character? Cool! Just fill out our handy-dandy form and we can make that a thing.

Please keep in mind that Canon Updates must be done when your character dies on the Battlefield. At this point in time, there is no game mechanic to allow them for non-soldiers.

Please note that on especially long canon updates (e.g. long timeskips, child characters growing up, significant turning points in canon), we reserved the right to request updates to any section on our standard application. That includes Presentation and Motivation, or any other area.

Until your canon update has been approved by a mod it is not cleared to go. If you have any questions, feel free to ask on this post. Canon Updates will not be approved via plurk, PM, or by any other means.

All right, so the first plot mission for 13 is getting underway.

Since this is a new thing, I am planning to keep this one sorta simple, so we can work out kinks as we go along (and I am sure there will be a few.)

A heads up before hand, this mission will be successful in that they find out what happens to the visitors from the family day plot, but it won't be victory bringing them home day. However on the flip side they aren't all dead or anything like that. But just so you know before signing up.

My plans at the moment are to do it sort of like a party post, but instead of different areas, we'll have different events in sequential order (thread ones is chatting on the hollow craft, thread two is landing, etc) so although mods will have control over the general course of the thread, you guys will have full control over the micro flow.

IF you feel your character might try something really dramatic that impacts the over all flow of the mission, PM the mods so we can work out when and work it into the flow. things like trying to crash the hover craft, running when they touch down, trying to kill on their team, etc.

and please feel free to ask any questions below. I will be posting the actual event log in a few days to give us time to figure things out both IC and OOC.

also I am still very sick, so please excuse any typos or slow replies.
09 11 14 - Capitol Plot
gamemakers: (Default)
Hello everyone,

Next week will be our big surprise Capitol plot. I'm trying to keep as many twists and turns as I can while still giving you guys information, so bear with me a little here and let me know if this is too opaque.

Mid-to-late next week, there will be a large event in the Capitol that will affect both Panem characters and Tributes/Mentors. Basically, your characters are going to have the opportunity to do some big things with very few consequences for them if they play their cards right. As with the jailbreak, there will be some RNGing to determine who gets caught and who doesn't.

When I reveal what the opportunity is, I'll ask you guys to propose ideas for what your characters will try to do, and I'll let you know if it's the sort of thing big enough to need an RNG (and, for example, if the proposal is "slaughter all the Peacekeepers" or something that would break the setting I would have to say no). From that point on, this plot will be in your hands, with the mods putting the appropriate brakes on as necessary. I will request that, when I announce the details of the plot, you check in with me if you're going to have your character do anything.

Powers will NOT be turned on.

There WILL be an affect felt in the Arena.

If you want your character to willingly go to District 13, now is a great time! Please let us know here.

You're free to ask questions here and I will do my very best to answer them without giving too much away.

Being Avoxed is something Capitol children whisper about at slumber parties. "Avox-bred!" is a low, Capitol-gutter insult. It's not only a punishment, it's a humiliation.

Prisoners subject to this particular cruelty are brought, blindfolded, cuffed, and gagged, to a facility with white cement walls and no windows, no unguarded doors. No one there will speak to them, referring to them only in clinical, dehumanising terms. Subject. Sample 31. The process begins in a harshly-lit white room with a chair like a dentist's from hell, and a team of Capitol technicians who perform a thorough physical, determining what force is appropriate. The drugging begins here, first to disorient and confuse, and then small opportunities are given to obey. Obedience is rewarded with one drug, disobedience with another, and electroshock is applied as this process escalates. Once the mind is considered pliable, specific behaviors and avoidances are programmed in using expanded versions of the same technique. Avoxes are supposed to be attentive, quick to obey, and eager to please any citizen. They are supposed to be afraid of failing to obey any order, no matter how extreme, to fear communicating directly, in any form. The Capitol wants them to behave as interchangeable, genderless drones with no thoughts or opinions or confidences of their own.

There is competition between the teams who do this programming. The current record for a successful procedure is three days. The longest was four months. Some teams choose to remove the tongue of an Avox, some to simply paralyze the muscles that allow for speech with a surgical or chemical technique. After processing, Avoxes are tested to verify their programming, and then are assigned their duties. All Avoxes belong to the Capitol, and most are leased out as if they were machinery.

For an Avox to be assigned to Tribute Tower, their crimes were generally of a specifically traitorous or high-profile nature, and there is someone to be influenced by seeing them serve their humiliation so publicly. It is a position of notoriety, even if the cultural narrative is to pretend to be ignorant of their previous identities. Tower Avoxes live in a dormitory beneath the training levels, and there are several peacekeepers assigned to handling them. It is a tedious job; Tower Avoxes are particularly well-trained and sent in to be re-sensitized more often than most.

This is a post for plot proposals! These can be as formal or as informal as you like. Something as simple as an Battlefield event suggestion can go here, or you can do a full write-up for a plot you'd like to run.

Any plot that deals with the Rebellion, Peacekeepers, changing a mechanic of the game, involves destruction of any kind (be it in the Capitol, District 13, or in on the Battlefield) needs to be run through this venue. Do not contact the mods on plurk, via PM, or in any other capacity. Until a plot is posted here for review and approved, it is not cleared to go. We will respond ASAP, but please keep in mind real life obligations.

Any plot proposal should utilize this form. Please fill it out to the best of your ability with as many details as possible, and keep in mind some things may need to be tweaked in order to fit the setting and pulse of the game. We also may need to consider any other player or mod plots we have lined up on the calendar.
